Press Releases Rent-A-Wreck of Baltimore City Opens Its Doors

(04/01/10) Laurel, MD Mike DeLorenzo, the Vice President of Rent-A-Wreck- the rent-a-car company with the funny name that's known for serious savings, is pleased to announce the opening of new corporate owned store. The new store is located at 4010 West Northern Parkway in Baltimore, Maryland, and is now open for business.

The new store differs from Rent-A-Wreck's other locations in that it's the first corporate owned Rent-A-Wreck, making the entire operation designed, managed and overseen by the Rent-A-Wreck home office, rather than an independent franchise owner. The change comes at a time when the Rent-A-Wreck brand is experiencing a rejuvenation of sorts, since being bought by JJF Management in 2006. JJF Management also owns several Fitzgerald Auto Malls and the NextCar car rental brand, whose 17 stores are stationed around the states of Maryland and Virginia.

The new Rent-A-Wreck of Baltimore City serves as a showcase for the renewed energy that was a result of not only weathering an extremely difficult economic downturn, but implementing strategies that helped Rent-A-Wreck come out on top. Strategies like maintaining an upgraded fleet - as evidenced by offering luxury models like Mercedes, BMW and convertibles one wouldn’t expect to find in a Rent-A-Wreck store - while still adhering to classic cost-effective values that made Rent-A-Wreck appeal to customers in the first place, expanding service to provide insurance replacements, and going after previously untapped reservation sources like Kayak.com.

When time came to find someone to manage this project, Mike DeLorenzo knew just who to turn to. He contacted none other than Penny Sottile, who’s worked for Rent-A-Wreck for 9 years as a Director of Franchise Services. Holding this position for almost a decade has gained Penny experience in the car rental and sales industry, as well as intimate knowledge of Rent-A-Wreck’s brand and many people involved in it.
