Rent-A-Wreck Opens in Laurel, Md.

(4/25/07) Laurel, MD – Husband and wife team Arif and Humaira Ayub are pleased to announce the opening of their new business, Rent-A-Wreck- the rent-a-car company with the funny name that’s known for serious savings. Located 127 Second Street in Laurel, Maryland, the new Rent-A-Wreck is now open for business.

“And no, the cars aren’t really wrecked!” says Arif, “It’s just a funny name we want folks around here to remember when they need to rent a good, clean and inexpensive car!”

Arif got into the automotive business 12 years ago with the start of their own repair shop called All Tune & Lube. As their business progressed over the years, the couple noticed that many customers had to either sit around and wait or arrange for rides to pick them up while their car was getting serviced. To alleviate this common inconvenience, Arif and Humaira decided to team-up and start an additional business renting cars. After some research they stopped on Rent-A-Wreck, a company known for valuing customer service over pricey brand new vehicles.

So why did Ayubs choose to open a Rent-A-Wreck in Laurel?

“I felt that there was a need in town for a neighborhood car rental agency that could deliver good, clean and reliable transportation at a fraction of the prices charged by the ‘big’ car rental agencies,” says Humaira, “We can offer my customers the value of a used vehicle that’s been maintained well, and give them the high quality customer service that can only come from a locally owned business that cares about the community it’s a part of,” she continued, adding that being close to the corporate office has been an added bonus. “Rent-A-Wreck’s new management has been really supportive of us,” she said.

Rent-A-Wreck of Laurel opened its doors in February, growing steadily each day. “We’re up to 6 cars so far!” said Arif. In the future, the couple hopes to open additional locations and perhaps pass their business on to their two kids. In the meantime, the Ayubs are concentrating on traveling, growing their business and raising their children.

Rent-A-Wreck of Laurel marks the 10 th Rent-A-Wreck location in Maryland for the 30-something company. A young southern California entrepreneur pioneered the concept of renting “clunkers”, used cars for less than the competition.
