Rent-A-Wreck Opens in Merced

(1/16/06) Owings Mills, MD – 29 year-old business owner Ryan Yandris is pleased to announce the opening of his new business, Rent-A-Wreck – the rent-a-car company with the funny name that is known for serious savings. Located at 1700 E. Yosemite parkway, the new Rent-A-Wreck of Merced is now open for business.

Ryan got his start as a licensed mortgage broker. After holding that position for over nine years, he decided he wanted to open a business of his own. He noticed that there was a need for a local source of quality cars, and with that in mind he opened Budget Auto Sales in early 2005. When he gained success 4 months later, Yandris decided to add Rent-A-Wreck to compliment his growing, value oriented business.

“I can offer my customers the value of a used vehicle that’s been maintained well and give them the high quality customer service that can only come from a locally owned business that cares about the community it’s a part of,” says Ryan, who is married and recently became a new father. “We are different from our competitors in not only that, but we also rent to drivers as young as 18 years old, we accept cash transactions and we have diesel trucks available for rent,” adds Yandris.

In future Ryan hopes to open a second Rent-A-Wreck location in Fresno. He also is looking forward to becoming more active in the community by sponsoring the local softball team. He credits his brother Clint, who works as a sales manager in both Budget Auto Sales and Rent-A-Wreck, for helping him achieve his goals.

Rent-A-Wreck of Merced marks 21st Rent-A-Wreck location to open in California, the same place where the first ever Rent-A-Wreck opened 30 years ago. A young southern California entrepreneur pioneered the concept of renting “clunkers”, used cars for less than the competition. Today, Rent-A-Wreck franchise owners worldwide rent newer model cars, trucks, sport utilities and vans.

Speaking about the Rent-A-Wreck philosophy Ryan said “Everybody drives a used car at home, so when you need to rent a car, why not rent a used one?”
