Rental Requirements and General Qualifications

Upon arrival, please proceed to the in-terminal rental counter of our affiliates ORBIT RENT A CAR . Free shuttle service will be provided to the vehicle pickup area.

An additional driver's surcharge of USD $5.00 per day applies.

Vehicles must be return within regular hours of operation (please refer to office hours). For after-hour returns, please inquire at the rental counter.

C.D.W - Collision Damage Waiver * - is not insurance; it is a product that waives the renter's responsibility for all or some damage to a rental vehicle in the event an accident. CDW only covers damages beyond the renter's deductible. Deductibles vary by vehicle. CDW charges range from: USD $9.00 to $18.00 per day. Any violations of the terms of the rental agreement, including any negligent or reckless behavior by the renter render will render CDW coverage null & void. CDW does not cover acts of God, damaged windshield, lost keys or flat tires. The purchase of CDW is mandatory for all car classes except 4 Door Sedans, Compact SUVs and Intermediate SUVs. Renters who can provide written proof of insurance coverage in Guatemala may also decline the purchase of CDW.
CDW Cost is as follows:
4 Door Sedans (Economy, Compact, Intermediate and Full-size Cars): USD $9.00 per day / $2,400.00 deductible
Compact and Intermediate SUVs: USD $9.00 per day / $4,670.00 deductible
Pickup Trucks: USD $18.00 per day / $4,670.00 deductible
Vans: USD $18.00 per day / $ 6,670.00 deductible
Full Size SUVs: USD $18.00 per day / $6,670.00 deductible
Premium SUVs: USP $18.00 per day / $11,335.00 deductible

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) ranges from 18.00 USD per Day up to $24.00 USD per Day, based on car class. SLI provides additional protection for bodily injury, death or property damage. / Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) $5.00 USD per Day. Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) provides accidental death benefits and emergency medical expense benefits to the renter and all passengers in the car. All renters are required to have proof of liability insurance at the minimum legal level. Renters who cannot provide proof of coverage in Guatemala must purchase SLI at the time of rental.
SLI Cost is as follows:
4 Door Sedans: USD $18.00 per day / 10% deductible
Compact and Intermediate SUVs: USD $24.00 per day / $10% deductible
Pickup Trucks: USD $24.00 per day / 20% deductible
Vans: USD $24.00 per day / 20% deductible
Full Size SUVs: USD $24.00 per day / 10% deductible
Premium SUVs: USP $24.00 per day / 20% deductible

Cross Border Driving Restrictions:
Vehicles must remain in the country of Guatemala. Travel to the countries of El Salvador and Honduras is allowed by purchasing a travel permit at the rental counter. The cost of such permit is $56.25 USD (one-time fee). Vehicles must be returned in Guatemala (no exceptions).

PAYMENT - We accept all major credit and debit cards, Deposit: The amount of the rent plus a minimum of $800.00, will be held in your card at the time of the rental, once the vehicle is returned this deposit will be released this process can take 7 to 14 business days. 
This rental does not admit changes, cancellations or refunds.

Vehicle must be returned with same amount of fuel as rented to avoid a refueling service charge.

AGE - The minimum age of the Renter or any additional driver must be 21. Drivers age 21-24 may rent a vehicle for an additional charge of $15.00 per day with higher C.D.W deductible. No additional charges will apply if Renter is over the age of 25.
DRIVERS LICENSE - Renter must present a valid driver license at the time of rental. Foreign renters must present a valid driver license and a valid passport and based on the date of the entry stamp.
All renters are required to have proof of liability insurance at the minimum legal level.

ONE-WAY - There may be an additional charge for dropping off the vehicle at a different office. The drop off charge varies depending at which office you are renting from and which office you are returning the vehicle into.
